  1. Joel says:

Yup! When your LINE isn’t in the water, it’s “Catchin’ Air”. Is that what u r after? :)

  2. Nice Fish! Great post… again! Keep that line in the water at all times! Prospecting is the lifeline of the business!

  3. Brenda says:

I love to go fishing. When I come home without the fish, I say I was just “ING” (No fish). But like you said, you can’t catch anything if your line is not in the water. If I come home from a prospecting afternoon without a prospect, at least I was “ING”. The good thing about prospecting vs fishing, sometimes those fish come looking for you after the fact………. Good blog.

  4. So true! The best time to prospect is when YOU have time ;-)

    • Mary Kaye says:

Totally agree, when YOU are the one with some time, your more relaxed, less anxious and better at patience and waiting for the fish. Even the Good Lord uses Fishing as an example, fisherman of men. You got to speak when the time is there….catch it.

  5. Hi Todd,
Great post! I tell my distributors the same thing all the time because you never know where that “heavy hitter” will come from. The only difference between successful Network Marketers and the ones that are not is that they have just spoken to more people and have found the few distributors that have made them most of their money. My top distributor came from a $10 ad in a local health magazine who has made me thousands of dollars in just the past few months since he joined. What I have found that has worked very well for me is to find ways for people to ask me about my business…car sign, t-shirt, inexpensive ads, and going out to free networking meetings like on http://Meetup.com. There is an abundance of people all over that are looking for what we all have to offer and our job is to find them…

Thanks for all the great advice you give Todd!

    Have a great day!

I’m not going fishing any more I’m going catching.
    Great analogy.

  8. Absolutely Bang on Todd…I see so many people wait till its a perfect time to prospect, yet that time will never come. If you want success, then you need to be doing the basics 90% of the time, like prospecting. He or she who talks to the most people will win in the game of success.

  10. Fishing Tip says:

use these 3 fishing tips too.1. Fish face upstream. If you are behind them, you can catch them directly in front of you.2. If you can see to the bottom of the creek, they can see you! Approaching a creek or stream from the bank often spooks fish.3. It is much easier to cast to a pocket, pool or small riffle from the center of a stream and maintain a slow retrieve. Best of all you are in an ideal position to cast effectively towards either bank.
