If there’s one thing I’ve noticed over the years, studying under Dan Kennedy is you have to stand out to get noticed.
As you can see from my pic to the left, it’s not the usual “stiff” suit and tie photograph. I did that for a reason. To appear like a very interesting, kinda crazy, funny person. Someone people want to read about. “What’s William Whitlow up to know”?
Seriously, sending people to the company lead capture page just isn’t good enough anymore. Maybe when the internet first came out, but not anymore. People just don’t respond to videos, even when they are put together really well.
What you said Todd about the U.S.P. (Unique Selling Proposition) is so true. What’s so different about you? Why are you going to help me make money? What’s you’re qualifications?
I hope you’re reading between the lines here.
Your pictures, videos, blogs, need to be interesting, need to stand out. You’re direct mail needs to stand out. You as a person need to stand out.
Even my direct mail stands out. I send stuff in funny packages, colored, red marker circles, and arrows. Fake dollar bills to use at my nightclub, or strip club mailed to my customer. Newsletters that read like a “stuff” or “maxim” magazine, not the regular “look at me” newsletters that talk about nothing but boring stuff people don’t care about.
Be different, it works.
